Sim Prep

Airline Simulator Prep

For pilots aspiring to sit in the cockpit of an airliner, Windy City Flyers offers Pre-Hire Airline Simulator Prep training. Many airlines today that conduct a pre-hire simulator test utilize the AST-300 during the interview and application process. What better way to get prepared, then to fly an AST-300 at Windy City Flyers in a multitude of scenarios and environments. Our staff of simulator instructors along with our alumni, many of whom currently fly for an airline, have together produced a curriculum of simulator training geared towards the aspiring new hire. With the airline quality visual cues through collimated optics and 35 degree horizontal field of view, the AST-300 simulator is the best option for preparing for that upcoming interview. The combined vast knowledge of Windy City Flyers current and alumni staff will assist you in handling that tension filled simulator session during the hiring process which can be the deciding factor of hearing "You’re Hired!".

New Simulator Addition

Windy City Flyers has acquired a FAA approved (14 CFR Part 61) Frasca 142 Simulator which has been installed on the ground floor of the flight school. This latest addition brings the total number of simulators at Windy City Flyers to 3, which includes our AST-300 and Elite PCATD, offering even more training opportunities.

Located in our first floor dispatch office, the Frasca 142 Sim can be configured for either single engine or multi engine flight – depending on your training needs. The 142’s handling characteristics resemble that of a typical general aviation airplane. Whether you fly a fixed gear, a complex retractable or a complex piston twin with a HSI, our 142 can be configured to your specifications.

The enhanced visual system allows for flying approaches down to minimums and then seeing the actual lighting system of O’Hare’s Runway 27L, as well as a number of other airports including Palwaukee. In addition, for realism, a function of the simulator allows the visual appearance of ground fog as you transition from Instruments to Visual at Decision Height at Night.

The challenges this training device offers can enhance the level of your experience and take you as high as you would like to go.
